Simplicity at its best(indian girl)

Morning Everybody, it is is getting colder day by day in North America, and well thats how it is supposed to be :). I hope you all have been liking my sketches, my attempt is to add atleast two sketches everyday.

The sketch I am posting right now is depicting beauty with simplicity, which shows the face is more then enough to figure out anybody's beauty. As the expressions those eyes can give you, nothing else wold make you feel that way.

In this sketch, I have tried to capture shyness of an indian girl, having their head covered which is a ritual to show respect to elders. Every culture has its own meaning and way of representation, and we should appreciate everybody, as god created us as human beings, and not with different communities or colors.

  1. i saw your post on craigslist toronto to come and critique your work.
I see your subjects as interesting and in general prefer the drawings that show interaction between two (or more) persons. that may be your strong point. In terms of your writing, i would not waste time in writing so much but would work on your drawing. if you are serious, you need about 3 more years of practice. what i don't like is the incompleteness - the indian girl head isolated from body. would not be hard to put a line or two suggesting her clothes/body. Another thing I see in that particular painting which shows your inexperience is that all the lines are in general the same pressure/darkness and are in general to dark/strong.

your most successful ones are the one with hug/kiss and the one with the heads together. I would study those and try to understand why they are good. You are definitely onto something, so keep going, just be aware that as it is, you are mostly in the realm of illustration/comics/etc but there is a chance to cross over into actual fine art... i'd say- start to explore color and shading also, break those lines up a bit, don't outline everything... good luck in your work
